About

TICKETS JUST RELEASED FOR TUESDAY 20TH JUNE, as all other performances have nearly sold out.

‘Wild Arts opera evenings are of a breathtakingly high, ROH-level musical standard – gorgeous musicians and mischievously well acted. I’d follow them anywhere.’
Libby Purves

Offering sustainable, world-class opera for everyone, Wild Arts bring their trademark effervescent storytelling to Donizetti’s Elixir of Love, one of the great Italian operas – full of fine tunes, romance and mischievous comedy.

Fully staged in costume, sung in English by a stunning cast from major opera houses in a new translation by Joseph Morris; directed by Guido Martin-Brandis and with a chamber orchestra conducted by Orlando Jopling.

The score, rewritten for a chamber orchestra by Hamish Brown, brims over with irrepressible mischief, great melodies and Donizetti’s effervescent ensembles and finales, which build to fantastic climaxes.

A brand-new production resets the story by the Mediterranean seaside in the 1950s and fills the stage with joyful moments and striking colours.

This year’s cast is led by renowned soprano Galina Averina as Adina and Thomas Elwin as small-town boy Nemorino.

Sofia Kirwan-Baez will act as Adina’s friend Giannetta while James Atkinson will star as the handsome Belcore and Alex Jones as the travelling quack Dr Dulcamara.

“A fine young cast excel, with engaging energy and superb singing.” ★★★★ The Guardian on our 2022 production, which played to packed houses.
