Morning - Start your day at Cressing Temple, home of the massive and beautiful timber barns built by the Knights Templar in the 13th century. Wander around the restored farm buildings and enjoy the Paradise walled garden, lovingly recreated in recent times in the original Tudor style when gardens were a source of food, healing and cleaning products! Traditional varieties of apple, quince and walnut trees share their home with medicinal herbs, dye-yielding plants and sweet-scented plants, used to decorate the home. Picnic in the pleasant grounds or take lunch at the Tiptree Tea Rooms on site.
Afternoon - Braintree Village is only a short journey away and the best place nearby for some retail therapy or you might fancy Great Notley Country Park, a great space for enjoying some fresh air. Bring your own kite or football or just enjoy walking and nature watching in this beautiful country park. Relax whilst watching the kids play on Essex’s longest play trail at 1.2km which boasts a giant see-saw, sand pits and tyre swings.
