About

Harwich Harbour Foot an Bicycle Ferry

Take in the sights of the Historic Harwich Harbour, with a trip on our foot and bicycle ferry, which started her life as a lifeboat on the luxury cruise liner, the SS Canberra. Linking Harwich in Essex with Shotley and Felixstowe in Suffolk, where the River Stour and River Orwell meet. The ferry service runs between April and October, providing a frequent service for tourists to East Anglia.

Its the easiest way to hop across to Essex from Suffolk or visa versa. Sail to Harwich for a 2 hour seal watching trip with sealwatching.co.uk or stroll to the sandy Dovercourt beach. Dont forget to grab a pizza from Milsoms new Harwich Pier Italian, before heading back. Visit Felixstowe’s new big Ferris wheel and new sea front attractions. You can walk or cycle from the ferry along the seafront to Felixstowe pier. Or if you prefer stay onboard for an hour round trip, taking in the sights of the harbour and the river mouths.

Enjoy close-up views of the massive container ships alongside one of Europe's largest container terminals at Felixstowe. The towering passenger ferries arriving from The continent, as well as the yachts sailing through the harbour. There are facilities at each of the departure points and connections with local buses.

The harbour area is very popular with visitors who enjoy the beautiful scenery along the River Stour and River Orwell. There are plenty of footpaths and cycle tracks along the rivers and birdwatchers can enjoy the feeding waders on huge mudflats on both rivers and three reserves within easy reach. Keep your eyes open for the Porpoise.
