About
Two Tree Island is a 259 hectare nature reserve sitting adjacent to the Thames Estuary, which is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust. This reclaimed salt marsh is just a stones throw away from Leigh on Sea and its train station, offering great opportunities for birdwatching and walking. Perfect for also seeing the ever changing views of the estuary and in the distance Hadleigh Castle.
The mudflats and salt marshes offer winter refuge for a huge variety of winter wildfowl and waders and is home to a recent Southend success story - the avocet. Targeted by egg thieves in recent years, local groups have since helped it recover.
Approximately 6km of trails which are a mixture of gravel and grass paths to choose from.
