Poster for Cable Street Blues

About

Cable Street Blues is performed by Maldon Drama Group, with Maldon Orchestra, and is raising money for the David Randall Foundation. It's a musical drama about the joys and sorrows of ordinary lives lived in extraordinary times: the roaring twenties; the jazz age: the great depression and the Battle of Cable Street. Featuring music from the period including Careless Love; the Charleston; St. James Infirmary; Brother Can You Spare A Dime; Sing, Sing, Sing and more.

The Battle of Cable Street.scenes depict the rise and confrontation of fascism in 1936. The play was written by Maldon Drama Group's Neil Fisher, who received a community award for his 2018 play 'Hope Flowers' which commemorated the First World War and raised funds for the British Legion.

Please note the story features occasional reference to suicide.
