Head to the Castle over the August Bank Holiday weekend and step into an early medieval encampment filled with magic and mystery! This extra special days will be packed with live demonstrations, interactive exhibits and plenty of fun for the whole family.

Learn more about medieval warfare and see for yourself what skills Knights would have needed to go into battle with live demonstrations and expert talks. Wander around the Castle encampment, take in the aromas of traditional medieval cuisine and learn more about medieval food and diet. You can also discover more about medieval skills such as spinning and weaving.

For the brave young Knights, Warrior Princes and Princesses, we need you to face a smoke breathing dragon! Can you help tame the beast to save Colchester and its historic Castle?!

Tickets include full entry to Colchester Castle as well as the Medieval Encampment. An action-packed day out is guaranteed! 

This event is suitable for all ages.

How To Book

For your safety and comfort, we are asking visitors to book a ticket in advance for a timed entry to visit Colchester Castle.

You will be able to book your visit up to 14 days in advance by calling our booking line on 01206 282939 between the hours of 10am – 4.30pm (11am – 4.30pm on Sundays)
