About

The annual Colchester Rotary Festival of Music is ready for 2021. This year in order to keep the Festival alive and active we are changing it to an online format. Anyone can enter. All you need to be able to record your performance is a phone, tablet or computer with video camera. To make things simpler and safer all the classes are for individual performances. The classes are organised by instrument or voice and there are no age or grade restrictions. Everyone from new beginner to accomplished amateur performer is welcome to enter.
New for 2021 are classes in Speech and Drama. There are classes in poetry, prose, bible and drama readings. The classes are organised by age group so that anyone from the under 6s to the over 17s can enter. We are very excited about this new venture and hope that many participants new to our Festival will enter.
One of the best aspects of an online Festival is the opportunity to have as many attempts as you like to get your performance right. Each performance must be a complete performance with no editing but there is no limit to the number of times that you can record your performance. Another excellent aspect is that you can do this from home without the stress of standing in front of an audience. We know from the experience of other online Festivals that many young people who would be far too shy to perform on a stage have found the experience of performing for the camera much easier.
