About

Unlimited rides on a train hauled by one of our vintage Diesel Locomotives, Diesel Railbus.
During our Diesel Days, The Museum is open for you to look around the various buildings, trains, displays and exhibits – details of what you can see can be found on our Standard Museum Admission page, with the added attraction of one of our heritage trains running, hauled by one of our diesel locomotives or Diesel Railbus running on our demonstration line.

A firm favourite with families, they're a great opportunity to visit the Museum and have a ride in vintage wagons or carriages pulled by one of our restored Diesel Engines, on our Class 101 DMU (which used to run on the Marks Tey to Sudbury line) or our popular Waggon and Maschinenbau Railbus.

We operate unlimited rides starting at around 10:30 – 15:00, the Museum opens at 10:00 right through until 17:00 (16:00 during winter months).

Check out our working Restoration Shed, See how the volunteers are getting on with the restoration of Lamport, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms & Signal Box and Train themed Children's Playground, our site of over 10 acres is ideal if you would like to bring your own picnic.

Additionally our Model Railway club rooms will be open for you to see all the changes our volunteers have been making to the layouts.
