Essex Book Festival is launching its 25th Edition on 1st June at the University of Essex under the banner of this year's festival theme: THIS LAND.

Kicking off the day with a large-scale community Radical Procession from St Leonard-at-the-Hythe Church to the University of Essex. On campus we will be met by multi-award winning author Sarah Perry (The Essex Serpent), Festival Patron and recently appointed University Chancellor.

Multiple events will also be taking place from ink-making, charter writing, open mic poetry, panel discussions, workshops and more!

There truly is something for everyone and any age.

Public Transport Directions

Nearest train station is the Hythe (Colchester). From the Hythe it is a 5 min walk to St Leonards Church, the starting point of our radical procession to the University of Essex.

To head straight to the university, there are multiple buses and carparks.
