About

Canal Folk Art is a rich and colourful tradition that flourished during the 19th century when working narrowboats in Britain were decorated with dreamy landscapes, featuring roses, castles, rivers and lakes.

With this 3-hour workshop, you will delve into the rich history and techniques needed to paint in this beautiful but now endangered art form with a jolly twsit!

The workshop focusses on exploring the traditional motifs, colour palettes and mastering of the brush techniques that define Canal Folk Art.

We will start with some basic exercises to get you comfortable with the materials and techniques. Then, we will move on to creating your own flower masterpiece, guided every step of the way by Marie Charles.

By the end of the class, you will not only have a deeper appreciation for the world of Canal Folk Art but also two beautifully flower decorated festive ball baubles to take home and cherish.

Materials will be provided, and your host Marie Charles will be on hand to guide you along the way.

Suitable for all abilities. For ages 16+.
