About

The 10th Essex Battalion WWI Re-enactment Group is coming to Combined Military Services Museum on Sunday 28 May 2023 as part of Local History Week. Come and enjoy a day with this amazing WWI group for drill demonstrations, living history and hopefully even a blank firing display. Normal entry fees apply.

The Combined Military Services Museum holds a nationally important collection of military artefacts, telling the story of the British fighting forces from the medieval period to the present day. Exhibits include the only surviving Cockle Canoe from the Cockleshell Raid, military vehicles, arms, armour, the Donnington gun collection, our famous SOE and Spy collections and Special Forces collection. We are also proud to hold the only known Viking sword found in Maldon.

With exhibits over three floors there is plenty to discover from 800 BC to modern warfare and the social history of the Home Front.

Last entrance is 2 hours before closing time to allow you a full two-hour visit.

Please Note:

During school term-time we open Wednesday to Sunday but during school holidays we are open everyday.

The museum in fully air conditioned. Assistance dogs only.

We are a fully accredited museum and are Heritage Lottery and Arts Council England funded
