About

We will start the day with those basics: what photography means and fundamental camera controls. We will examine aperture, shutter and ISO, what they do and why you'd change them. For this reason you'll need a camera that allows you to take control of these functions. Later we'll look at accurate metering, correct exposure and the right white balance, how to apply them and why you should – sometimes – ignore them.

In addition to 'classroom' style learning, we will spend time in the exceptional surroundings of the Markshall Estate arboretum so you can practice what you have learnt. With a maximum of ten participants, everyone will get some one-to-one time during the day.

Tea, coffee and water is provided throughout the day. Bring your own lunch or there is an option to pre order a packed lunch from the café nearer the date.

Suitable for all abilities. Limited spaces, booking essential. This event will take place outdoors so dress for the weather.
