Stage 6 of the prestigious cycling event Tour of Britain will be passing through the Maldon District on September 8. The race starts in Southend and finishes in Harlow, a distance of 146km, and will take in a route from South Woodham Ferrers to Althorne, right past Ormiston Rivers Academy, turning left to go into Southminster then reaching Ashedlham. The riders will then carry on to Tillingham and almost into Bradwell-on-Sea before turning left through Steeple, Mayland and Latchingdon.

The peleton will then turn right into Fambridge Road, past the Round Bush pub and turn left towaqrds Purleigh, left again at Hazeleigh then heading into Bicknacre on their ownward journey to Harlow. You can see the full route at Tour of Britain | Stage Six.

Timings are approximate, but the Tour is expected to reach South Woodham Ferrers at 12:49, Burnham at 13:12, Southminster at 13:17 and pass West Hanningfield around 14:23 giving plenty of opportunity to watch the 120 professional riders who include World Champions, Tour de France winners and Olympians. Rolling road blocks will be in place as the riders pass through.

If you aren't able to watch the race in person, Stage 6 will be screened on ITV4 live from 11:30am – 4pm and highlights from 8pm – 9pm.
