Win a "Hands On" Day Sail

With this amazing prize from Topsail Charters. You will join the crew for a participation day sailing the rivers Blackwater and Colne.  This once in a lifetime experience departs from Maldon. The day includes getting involved in all aspects of sailing a Thames Barge, including hoisting the sails, taking the wheel, winding leeboards, raising the anchor and learning how such a large craft can be sailed by only two people.  

The day starts on board for breakfast as we take the ebb tide down river. The Blackwater soon widens out and we sail past Osea Island, Tollesbury Creek, Mersea Island and into the Colne for a hot lunch after which we take a wind of the anchor before heading back towards Maldon, finishing with tea and cake.
