Highwoods Country Park

Highways Country Park is a fantastic country park with lots of great wooded areas, a dipping pond, a vegetable garden and orchard. You then come out to a large grassed area with dramatic views of the countryside and the lake. You will find a visitor centre and toilets and a well-stocked play area for children.

It is a great find in a busy town and is a short walk from the main line station at Colchester.

Directions

1.Start from Colchester Station. The Country Park is approximately ten minutes walk from Colchester Station. Come out on the rear side of the station, this is the side with the Bus Stops and large car park. From the doors of the station you will need to cross over the road at the mini roundabout so you end up on the pavement alongside the residential building named Station Building. 
2. Walk to the end of the pavement and turn left bringing you into Bergholt Road then cross over the first crossing you come to. It is a great find in a busy town and is a short walk from the main line station at Colchester.
3. Once you have crossed the road continue for three minutes until you get to Mile End Road, walk two minutes along the road and cross over and walk up Bruff Close which is on the right-hand side. 
4. Walk to the top of Bruff Close which takes you to the main road called Northern Approach, cross this road on the controlled crossing and turn right up Turner Road.
5. Walk up Turner Road until you come to the entrance on the right for Highwoods Country Park.
