About
Steeped in history and jewelled with green space, the Epping Forest area is a delight waiting to be explored. Discover the history of Epping Forest and its people through interactive displays at The View visitor centre, which also features regularly changing exhibitions on a variety of art and historical themes.
Learn about life in Tudor times at Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge, right next to The View. Built by Henry VIII in 1543 and later renovated by Elizabeth I, it’s a remarkable and rare survival of an intact timber-framed hunt standing still surrounded by its medieval royal hunting forest. The View visitor centre showcases some of the main themes, stories and habitats of the forest.
Whether you wish to escape the urban sprawl to unwind or want to take part in a sporting activity such as jogging, horse riding or cycling, Epping Forest has something for everyone.
Throughout the year various events and festivals take place offering another dimension to your visit. Don’t forget to pop in to the gift shop where you can purchase a reminder of your day out.
