Food & Drink
You can be assured of delicious, fresh, seasonal produce in our café and restaurant much of which is straight from our vegetable garden. Pop in to the Clover Café for breakfast, lunch, or afternoon tea and cake. However, if you’re after something more substantial, there is the Gardeners Rest restaurant, overlooking the iconic Dry Garden, where you can linger over a leisurely lunch with family and friends.
Shopping
Our Garden Centre has free entry and stocks a wide range of top-quality plants, tools and accessories with experts on hand to answer your questions. We also offer a 5-year guarantee on all hardy plants, so you can buy with confidence. Looking for a gift or even a treat for yourself? There are horticultural books, artisan foods, kitchen accessories and our RHS Exclusive products (available only in our shops), so be sure to visit and take a piece of RHS Garden Hyde Hall home with you.
Events
Throughout the year, the garden is an inspirational backdrop for a host of exciting events including family activities, plant fairs and flower shows, craft fairs, exhibitions, live music and theatre. We also offer an engaging programme of learning activities from toddler gardening clubs, to adult workshops where you can enhance your horticultural knowledge, or get creative with painting and photography classes. Shuttle Bus - Your Green Travel Option
This year, we're excited to offer a convenient and eco-friendly shuttle bus service from April to August, from Wickford and Chelmsford train stations! Our shuttle will run on weekends, bank holidays (excluding 5 May), and during the Flower Show (31 Jul - 3 Aug).
Service Dates:
- First Day: Friday, 18 April
- Last Day: Sunday, 31 August
Schedule:
- Inbound: Three morning trips
- Outbound: Three afternoon trips
Stops:
- Chelmsford: Stand 10 on Duke Street, outside the train station
- Wickford: Station bus stop, outside the station entrance/exit
Ticket Prices:
- Adults: £4 (return)
- Children: £2 (return)

Road Directions
Hyde Hall is conveniently located just 20 minutes from Chelmsford and is signed from the A130 (southbound). Leave the M25 at junction 29 for A127 (signed Southend). From the A127 exit onto the A132 (signed Wickford/South Woodham Ferrers). Or leave the A12 at junction 17, then at the roundabout take the second exit for the A130 (signed Southend/Basildon) From the A130 Rettendon Turnpike roundabout follow the tourist attraction flower symbols towards South Woodham Ferrers on the A132. At the Shaw Farm roundabout turn left into Willow Grove/Creephedge Lane. Sat Nav code: CM3 8ET
