Woodham Walter is a village three miles from the town of Maldon, seven miles from Southwoodham Ferrers and approximately eight miles from the city of Chelmsford. The village features three public houses - The Cats, The Bell Inn and The Queen Victoria - a primary school, St. Michael's Church and the Warrens Estate. The Warrens Estate is a golf and country club which offers a pay and play facility and is a popular venue for weddings and events. 

The village is located close to the River Blackwater which provides excellent walks along the Chelmer and Blackwater navigation trail and opportunities for water sports such as canoeing, paddleboarding and kyaking.
