Bringing on back the good times, an evening of quality Christmas comedy has been announced for stylish Southend restaurant Sands by the Sea.
As the country celebrates the fantastic news that Christmas 2020 is not going to be cancelled, the restaurant on Western Esplanade with fabulous sea views and facilities is presenting an evening of stand-up on Saturday, December 5.
Comedy at the Sands will be compered by Radio Essex weekend breakfast show host Ross "Little Smash" McGrane. The evening features fellow Radio Essex presenter John Oakes and character comedian Kasabian.
Ross was the official tour support for Russell Kane's Fast and the Curious Tour and is famed for hugely successful comedy nights in south east Essex. Over the years he has paid host to the likes of Omid Djalili, James Acaster, Ricky Grover, Nathan Caton, Luisa Omeilan, and Darren Harriott.
"We're looking forward to putting a smile back on people's faces," says Ross. "After the year we've
all been through, entertainment fans are long overdue the great news that shows like this can go ahead."
John Oakes has worked with Nina Conti, Marcus Brigstocke, Rachel Paris, members of The Comedy Store Players and star of Whose Line is it Anyway? Mike McShane. He has been a regular host of the Laughter Academy and is one third of Giraffe – which enjoyed four and five-star reviews at the Edinburgh Festival.
And Kasabian specialises in character comedy and is a star of improvised pantomime Oh Yes it Is!.
The evening will be rounded off with a session of improvisation.
Venue owner Philip Miller says that the festive treat will comply with current Covid-safety precautions, adhering to all social distancing and hygiene precautions.
Philip's company Stockvale Limited own the seafront's Adventure Island theme park. "We are proud to be able to offer some Christmas cheer at last for our customers," he says.
