About

We will meet at the North entrance to Colchester North Station at 10.40 and then catch the 10.47 train changing to the Mayflower line at Manningtree, we will meet at Dovercourt station at 11.19.

From here we will walk up through the faded old Victorian town of Dovercourt towards the beach where the famous Lighthouses have stood for over a century. We will walk North along the beach walk towards the historic town of Harwich, stopping to picnic on the way.

Past the redoubt fort and on into the town where we will stop at Halfpenny Pier for a brief talk about the lightship and the presence of the RNLI in the town, before moving on to the Electric Palace cinema, dating from 1911 is one of the worlds oldest and least altered purpose built cinemas, for a personal talk from the staff and volunteers, before returning to the station to catche the 14.26 train back to Colchester, arriving at 14.59.
