About

Flower festival with the theme Childhood Memories, raising money to help preserve the beautiful church.

St Barnabas Church is located a short drive away from the residential area of the village and can be found at the top of Mayland Hill. There are spectacular views of the neighbouring farms and fields. The church is nestled in a well kept churchyard and many visitors return purely for the peacefulness and serenity of its surroundings. The church building itself is just over 150 years old and recently celebrated the completion of a new roof!

The churchyard features a number of Commonwealth War Graves, including memorials to Pvt Albert Edward Maynard, Pvt Alfred Dow and Pvt Charlie Samuel Whent who were killed in World War One and Trooper David Shrimpton and Petty Officer Stoker Thomas Sleap who died in World War Two. Corporal Dulcie Joyce Whent from the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, who died in 1944 aged 23, is also commemorated with a Commonwealth War Grave.
