About
Members of the Essex Historic Military Vehicle Association will be paying a visit to the Combined Military Services Museum with a selection of their historic war time vehicles during Local History Week. The Essex HMVA has a membership whose vehicles range from push bikes, jeeps, land rovers, lorries, artillery and tanks from WW1 and WW2 through to relatively modern examples such as Chieftain tanks, so who knows what might turn up!
The Combined Military Services Museum holds a nationally important collection of military artefacts, telling the story of the British fighting forces from the medieval period to the present day. Exhibits include the only surviving Cockle Canoe from the Cockleshell Raid, military vehicles, arms, armour, the Donnington gun collection, our famous SOE and Spy collections and Special Forces collection. We are also proud to hold the only known Viking sword found in Maldon.
With exhibits over three floors there is plenty to discover from 800 BC to modern warfare and the social history of the Home Front.
Last entrance is 2 hours before closing time to allow you a full two-hour visit.
Please Note:
During school term-time we open Wednesday to Sunday but during school holidays we are open everyday.
