Children's hand picking a fossil out of some mud

About

Our first guided crafts of this year are looking at the formation of mould and cast fossils. Children will be making their own cast of a fossil to take home with them.

The activities take approximately 30 minutes and the casts will then take 30 minutes to set, so it is advisable to plan your visit so that you come straight to the craft session and then view our museum collection whilst you wait for it to dry.

The craft sessions are lead by Ciara, a child care student from Chelmsford college. The sessions are planned to be fun and educational.

There is no fee for the craft sessions but donations are appreciated.

Access requirements:

The museum takes the needs of disabled customers and those with specific access requirements very seriously.

Unfortunately, being an old building, there is no wheelchair access available to our upstairs rooms, where the craft activity will take place.
