Man working at a forge

About

A mystical art,  steeped in tradition, rooted in passion – and delivered at an amazing Period site?

Surely this can’t be right?

Yes folks, it is!

The famous Historical Hammerings course has returned to Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome.

In this world-renown heritage site, you will join our time-served Master Smith, Mr Peter Trick, as he takes you from your first use of a genuine Great War Forge to the production of your own item to take away.  A great teacher, Peter will share the secrets of this mysterious and magical art at your pace, gently leading you in the development of your skills.

Arriving at 9am at the Aerodrome, you will be given your own sterilised protective equipment to wear. You will have a thrilling morning in our period forge before breaking for your hot lunch – all included. You will then return to your forge to finish your item to take away as a functioning memento of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. You will be finished between 4 and 5pm, depending on how you master your skills!

To make sure you get the best of it, numbers are STRICTLY controlled. None of this ‘ten people on a forge’ at Stow Maries. Just two students per day are admitted.

Students should dress robustly, with warm clothing and stout boots – no trainers.

Evidence of a COVID Vaccination will be required for Admission, as well as a Lateral flow test on the day that proves negative.

Dogs are not suitable for this event. Parking is on site. No experience necessary. Items will be selected from a predetermined list. Over 16s only, under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

So – what are you waiting for?
