In this talk, Trevor will share with us the story of a group of young Holocaust survivors who began their recovery in Windermere in the Lake District. Some of these young boys were later to be relocated to the Loughton Hostel. The talk will share their experiences, through stories from local Windemere residents, and the survivors themselves.Trevor Avery is a Director of the Lake District Holocaust Project and 2nd Generation Publishing. Trevor has appeared in BBC Radio Four documentaries including Open Country: The Windermere Boys and in a special edition of BBC Radio Four's Sketches. Other programmes as advisor include ITV's The Story of the Swastika and the 2010 BBC One documentary The Orphans Who Survived the Concentration Camps. In 2016 he was awarded the British Empire Medal for Services to Heritage in the Lake District.
