The lakes are well stocked with commercial sized carps averaging 6-10lb with several going to mid- teens and rising up to 22lb. There is a variety of other species, including our residents sturgeons, Bob and George, which weigh 19lb and 9lb respectively. Bream, Tench, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Gudgeon can also be caught at our lakes which are guaranteed to meet the expectations of the keenest angler. Managed by a permanent fishing warden, the fish and their environments are maintained to the highest standard, recently been improved with new swims added!

Waldegraves is one of the premier destinations for fishing holidays in Essex, as we also offer sea fishing from our beach. Here you could be lucky enough to catch anything from sea bass, sole and mackerel to plaice, whiting and dog fish. And, if you would like to venture further out onto the water, you can do so with our own boat launching facilities. From here you can explore the waters around Mersea Island. We also sell tackle and bait for both fresh and seawater fishing from the on-site Wheatgrain shop. Facilities are suitable for disabled anglers, with parking close to the lakes.
