About
Paglesham is located in the east of Rochford District and is divided into the two hamlets of East End and Church End which are located close to the River Crouch and Paglesham Creek. The two hamlets - which are part of the Roach Valley Conservation Zone - form one of Essex's oldest fishing villages, while many cottages and timber framed buildings gaze out upon the farmland throughout the area. During the centuries Paglesham was - according to customs records - belived to be involved in smuggling activities due to the many creeks and inlets along the River Crouch and Paglesham Creek. Within East End is the Plough and Sail public house.
