Author and poet William Sieghart with his book

About

A special event for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee is being organised for Burnham as part of the Essex Book Festival. As part of the event, author and poet William Siehart will be giving a talk called The Poetry Pharmacy: Tried-and-True Prescriptions for the Heart, Mind and Soul

Universal, inspirational, delightful: William Sieghart’s The Poetry Pharmacy has brought comfort to thousands during lockdown. Seldom has poetry been such an obvious source of inspiration and comfort than during the pandemic. There are words here for everyone, for every moment in our journey, dispensing wisdom and reassurance. Come along to this unique event to hear William speak about the far-reaching effects of this marvellous collection and to hear live ‘prescriptions’ and poem suggestions for the audience, their friends and loved ones.

In addition, there will be events throughout the afternoon on the Quay, including  Salty Storytelling with award-winning storyteller Glenys Newton, Crafty Workshops, Pop-Up Writing Desks, Witchy Walks along the Crouch, plus the opportunity to Plant Your Own Jubilee Acorn.
