About

Celebrate Colchester’s diverse community through food, music and performances at the town’s annual festival of Rice and Spice – including children’s activities, workshops and a huge variety of food stalls.

A community event for everyone!

Located in the lovely grounds of Colchester’s Firstsite art gallery, the Rice and Spice Festival offers an afternoon of good food, fun and entertainment.

The festival is a free event bringing together Colchester’s communities to celebrate their cultures and heritages.

It is built around the global theme of rice and spice and is underpinned by a commitment to diversity and equality.

The festival creates opportunities and platforms for all local communities in Colchester to showcase and share their heritages through food, dance, music, performances and the visual arts.

This event is organised by Colchester Ethnic Minority Forum. This year's sponsors are Essex County Council, Essex Cultural Diversity Project, The Mercury Theatre, Colchester Borough Council, the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and of course Firstsite.

No booking required.
