About
Chelmsford Cathedral wants to offer people the opportunity to come and remember lost loved ones as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Canon Ivor explains; 'We recognise what a difficult and painful time it has been, and continues to be, for so many and for not having had a proper time to remember and to grieve. So, Chelmsford Cathedral is inviting the community to a simple but heartfelt and meaningful service of remembrance where you will have the chance to give thanks for and say goodbye to any you have lost over these past months'.Earlier in the year, the Cathedral invited people to lay a stone on a memorial cairn in the churchyard and at this service we are bringing the cairn indoors. These stones will be placed on the steps, surrounded by candles, and there will be an opportunity to add the name of your loved one at this simple service of readings and poems. It takes place in the Cathedral at 7pm on Monday 1st November; a time we call 'All Souls' when we remember and commend those we have loved but see no longer. All are welcome.
